Welcome

Welcome to the first web site dedicated to film comic Edgar Kennedy.  Please take the time to browse at some of the career highlights of Big Ed Kennedy's career.  There are some wonderful photographs that were contributed from Edgar's family, and some contents from the book, "Edgar Kennedy-Master of the Slow Burn."

This Monterey County born film pioneer was also a professional boxer, an original Keystone Kop, comedian, character actor and director.  He worked with virtually all the big names and was star of his own series until he died of throat cancer on Nov. 9, 1948.  He was only 58 years old.

Edgar appeared in over 400 movies starting in the year 1911.  Alas, Edgar died before the baby boomers discovered him.  The name recognition is almost gone unless one is a film buff, Laurel and Hardy fan or a moviegoer prior to 1948.  It is the intention of this author to raise awareness and education about the contributions Edgar Kennedy made during his lifetime.

If you have any questions, comments or have additional information on the life of Edgar Kennedy or his series co-stars,

"Cassara has written an exhaustive biography, Edgar Kennedy: Master of the Slow Burn, I never suspected that anyone would have been able to build a full-fledged, well-rounded biography of Kennedy so many years after his death."
Leonard Maltin's Movie Crazy

"(Cassara) used his work experience to follow leads and hunt for information in every conceivable nook and cranny. Any would-biographer would benefit from having someone as diligent as Cassara to ferret out information."
